Carolee Rainey - Hustle Up

As recently as a couple of years ago, Carolee was still immersed in a life of painting and photography. Music was not yet a part of the plan. It's possible that the solitude of being a painter and the exploration of that time period offered an expressionistic perspective to songwriting. After Rickie Lee Jones' concert, Carolee was inspired to write her debut EP 'Feel Fearless!' and subsequently the 'Hustle Up' album.

Hustle Up is the album comprised of 5 incredible tracks in Contemporary Folk genre. The album opens with composition called Camille which is a great choice for the album opener. Starting with the piano, it developes into the powerful track, performed by the pleasant Carolee's vocal. The composition is followed by Sacrifice - piano and guitar ballad, which reminds me of Lady Gaga's live performances. The sound is very powerful and we can literally see strong feelings put in the whole track. The fourth track - The Hustle - impresses listeners with the effect in the beginning and catchy rhythm: this song literally makes us feel the whole mood of the album. Melodic chorus will definitely stay in head for a long time. The reflective and meaningful ballads Tag Sale and You Got Me Wrong are the ones that help you to dive deep in thoughts after a hard day, but You Got Me Wrong is my absolute favorite from the record, because this song is more sensetive and touching in comparison to others.

To sum up, everything in Hustle Up comes together in a stream of consciousness style. This is unforgettable journey into the mix of folk music and meaningful lines in one piece.
