Review: Mr.Dragonfly - Icey Road

Born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and raised in Portland, Oregon. Monshjay Davis alias Mr Dragonfly has always been strumming his guitar ever since he can remember. At an early age, he fell in love with the sounds of Earth, Wind & Fire, The Ohio Players, Percy Faith, and George Benson. This musical genius considers George Benson as his favourite guitarist of all time. Currently, Mr D is a guitarist and composer. He derives his inspiration from the old-school classics and spins them around to give them a contemporary touch. His music receives acclaim for being soulful but modern at the same time. Mr D combines Jazz, Hip-Hop, Rock, Blues, and even orchestral music to create the unique, yet tasteful blend that is his music. The unique blend appeals to listeners everywhere — his inherent talent to mold something new from old gold Icey Road is comprised of 11 incredible tracks where he uses genres, such as Hip-Hop and Instrumental. The album opens with composition called - Hot Stuff - which, in my opinion, is a great choice for the album opener. Starting with catchy guitar, it brings vibes of modern hip-hop music. The song is followed by The Beat Goes On - tune with pleasant beat, which makes listeners move, as well as Under My Spell 2. #1 Spot and Mr. D surprise us with the groovy bass: this song literally makes us feel the whole mood of the album. Melodic arrangement will definitely stay in the head for a long time. The 9th song on the record, Samba Do Ole, impressed me with its atmosphere and percussion: it made this song interesting and remarkable, as well as Sweet May. The Lonely Road, which is one of my favorites from the album, is an easily memorable song: it has interesting rhythm, catchy melody and rich arrangement. Get Yo Money, the 3rd song on the record, is the one that will definitely make listeners relax because of its calmness. It starts with beautiful female vocals and developes into fully-arranged track. Icey Road and Walk With Me are the ones that help you to dive deep in thoughts after a hard day.

To sum up, everything in Icey Road comes together in a stream of consciousness style. These 11 tracks will definitely transfer you into another dimension of inspirational Hip-Hop music.
